Adding Some Green to your Life

Beautifying a home is a great project to undertake. One of the simplest ways to do this is to add some color into your space in the form of plants. Here are some solutions for those that want to have some extra greenery about but might not have the green thumb that we all wish we had or the time to tend to a full garden.

If you don’t have much time to tend to your plants you are going to want something that doesn’t need much care. Cacti are great for this purpose because they only need a little water once in a while and are very disease resistant. Make sure that you remind yourself that they need t be watered though. Put it in our calendar and make a habit f it.

If you really don’t have the time to care for plants at all think you will forget then you should get some artificial flowers. They have become much more realistic as of late and can be quite beautiful. Cheap silk flowers are a great option for those of us with a bad track record of killing plants and they can be used both indoors and outdoors so long as they are high quality. The lower quality silk flowers aren’t worth your time. They look bad and will fall apart eventually.
Bring the plants indoors. Look into plants that don’t need large amounts of light and can survive well in planters. You don’t want anything that is going to drop lots of leaves or flower petals. Keep those outside on the patio. If you live in a warm climate then you can grow plants all year round. Lots of people will grow flowering and fruiting plants indoors so they act as both beautiful splashes of color but also sources of food and spice. Hot peppers are a really beautiful choice.

You’ll also want to avoid anything that can hurt children or animals if you have either. Lots of plants that we don’t think as dangerous can be very toxic to certain animals and you need to do research to avoid this. This is another area where silk flowers are a great option. That way you can have real plants and then those flowers that you really love but are toxic to cats. Don’t ever assume that a plant is out of reach of a cat either. If they really want to then they will get to it and they can get very sick or even worse if they eat the wrong plant.
